SQL 2014 SP1 Install and Configure Reporting Service for SCOM 2012 R2

The SCOM 2012 R2 Reporting component relies on SQL Server Reporting Service. We are going to install this component on RS007.

Prerequisites

  • SQL Server 2014 SP1 must be copied locally.
  • The SQL Service account (Domain\SQL_Account) must be granted local administrative rights.
  • Run the PS command “Import-Module ServerManager”.
  • Run the PS command “Add-WindowsFeature NET-WCF-HTTP-Activation45,Web-Static-Content,Web-Default-Doc,Web-Dir-Browsing,Web-Http-Errors,Web-Http-Logging,Web-Request-Monitor,Web-Filtering,Web-Stat-Compression,Web-Mgmt-Console,Web-Metabase,Web-Asp-Net,Web-Windows-Auth –Restart”

Installation steps

Log on RS007 with an account that has local administrative rights and SQL sysadmin right (Domain\SQL_Account) on DBCluster. Launch Setup.exe (right click, Run as Administrator) from the SQL 2014 SP1 sources, select Installation then New SQL Server stand-alone installation…


Select Installation then New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features.


Make sure all installation rules pass correctly and validate.



Enter the product key and validate.


Check I accept the license terms.


Make sure all installation rules pass correctly and validate.


Leave the default parameters, Then next.


Ignore the .net warning then click next


Make SQL Server Feature Installation then next.


Select Reporting Services – Native and the Management Tools components. Make sure to change the installation directories to the D:\ drive


Make sure all installation rules pass correctly and validate.


Insure that the instance as point 1 and the reporting service directory is D: then click next.


Change the account to Domain\SQL_Account, input the password, change the start-up type to Automatic then click next


Mark Install only then next.


Make sure all checks are successful then next.


Click install.


Wait until the installation finished.


Make sure that the installation done successfully and close the setup wizard.


Go to Server Apps and run the reporting services configuration.


Leave the default values and click connect.


Go to web URL and click apply.

Go to Database tab and click to change database.

Select Create a new report server database.

Leave the default parameters and click test connection.


Make sure the test succeeded and click ok.


Leave the default values and click next.


Change authentication type to Windows Credential, Input the service account Domain\SQL_account, type the password then click next.


Review the database parameters. Close the configuration manager.


Open SQL Server Management Studio, connect to DBCluster and make sure ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB databases are present.


Open a web browser using the SQL service account (Domain\SQL_Account) and connect to URL http://MS007/Reports.This screen should appear showing the root folder of the report server.

Go to Execution account, mark specify an execution account, enter, Domain\SCOM_Action then the password and click apply.

Back to web server URL and click to the web site link.

You should receive open the report server.


Back to report manager URL then click to the website url.

You should be able to open report page.
